The secret of life is ENJOYING the passing of time
And now for my creation…

I think the beauty of this card is the simplicity of it.¬† Layers, a little “bling” and the use of one stamp from the “From My Heart” stamp set by Stampin’ Up!.¬† I stamped the image three times, white embossed one of the images on black card stock, and then layered them cutting back part of the image each time.¬† The background used on the card and envelope is from scrapbook paper by Recollections called “Clocks”.¬† The inside of the card is stamped (in crumb cake) with “I’d rather do NOTHING with you than SOMETHING with anyone else.” also from the “From My Heart” stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

It’s a Friday Mashup on a Sunday Stamp!

Standard

Good morning everyone..

Yesterday was…

02caf6aa4e65a4b07e4d5d7d3897-227x250And Ontario’s famous groundhog, Wiarton Willie, didn’t see his shadow!¬† So.. the prediction is, spring will be here early.¬† Personally, I think this is a little optimistic but, hey! One can hope… and I, for one, will be feverishly hoping!!

Somehow the weekend has been speeding along, and I’ve been swept up along with it!¬† We had a wonderful dinner at my sister and brother-in-laws home last night, my mum was there also.¬† John took Shannon out in my car to teach her how to drive standard.. apparently she was beaming the whole time and did a great job!¬† A little more practice and she’ll be able to drive alone.. I’m so happy for her, and just a little freaked out that my baby is all grown up now and soon will be able to drive my car alone!!

And while being swept off my feet by the love of my family, I almost forgot to post today!

The Friday Mashup and the Sunday Stamps challenge were both posted and I just have to share.. These are both fun challenges this week.. Spring is definitely in the air!

Ta-dah!!

And now for a close-up of the dimensional flower..

Image 13D flowers look so pretty and it’s really a very simple technique used to create them.¬† All you do is distress three paper flower shapes on a foam pad with a bone folder — this helps separate the paper, peel the front and back of the paper (so one flower shape creates 2), re-layer them and affix them all together with a brad through the centre.¬† I’ll be adding the technique on Thursday so you can make some too!

Supplies needed for my Welcome Spring card:

  • Ink: Versamark
  • Marker: Raspberry Ripple
  • Framelits: Hearts a Flutter
  • Edgelits: Adorning Accents
  • Textured Impressions: Adorning Accents
  • Stamp Set: You are Loves
  • Cardstock: For card: Raspberry Ripple; Old Olive; Brights DSP
  • Cardstock: For flower: Pretty in Pink; Real Red; Primrose Petals
  • Embellishments: Glimmer in Colour brads (cause you need a little ‘bling’)
  • Adhesive: SNAIL; GlueDots¬ģ

Have a Happy Sunday!!

The Friday Mashup!

Standard
The Chinese New Year starts February 10, and it is the Year of the Snake this year. In China, it is known as the Spring Festival, runs three days, and ends with the Lantern Festival. As part of the celebration, it is traditional for every family to thoroughly cleanse the house, in order to sweep away any ill-fortune and to make way for good incoming luck. Windows and doors will be decorated with red colour paper-cuts and couplets with popular themes of “good fortune” or “happiness”, “wealth”, and “longevity”. On the Eve of Chinese New Year, supper is a feast with families. Food will include such items as pigs, ducks, chicken and sweet delicacies. The family will end the night with firecrackers. Early the next morning, children will greet their parents by wishing them a healthy and happy new year, and receive money in red paper envelopes. The Chinese New Year tradition is to reconcile, forget all grudges and sincerely wish peace and happiness for everyone1.

For this challenge, you could incorporate Chinese symbols, an image of a dragon or lion representing the traditional parade dance, a snake or two to symbolize the Year of the Snake, or a red envelope.  To mash it up, use the faux paper lantern technique on your project.

So here is the¬†“Mashup”¬†Challenge:
  1. ¬†Make a project with a¬†Chinese New Year (Year of the Snake) Theme“.
  2. Or Make a project using the¬†“Paper Lantern Technique.
  3. Or¬†“Mash it Up”¬†and create a project for the¬†“Chinese New Year featuring the Paper Lantern Technique”.

For more information, rules, techniques, and to participate in this fun weekly challenge.. click on the image above to go to the Friday Mashup! website.
